HARTLAND SCHOOL BOARD RECALL
On Monday September 16, 2024, Hartland Consolidated Schools Board of Education members Cindy Shaw, Meghan Glabach, Kristen Coleman, and Chris Costa voted to approve a voluntary agreement with the Department of Justice. They willingly abdicated local authority to an entity in Washington D.C., against the wishes of the Hartland citizens and voters. The execution of this agreement has invited a federal agency into our school district to observe and track our children, a fact concerned citizens across Hartland find disturbing!
The purported actions of a few students and HCS employees years ago has resulted in the unfair villainization of our children and the stigmatization of our beloved community. It should be noted that neither Hartland Consolidated Schools, nor any named Administrators, have been found liable or guilty of any violation of federal law and therefore no remedial action is required. Even so, these board members voluntary voted for this new agreement which requires that all students in Hartland School District receive DEI and Anti-Racism training approved by the Great Lakes Equity Center in Indianapolis, Indiana and the DOJ in Washington D.C. In other words, whether they meant to or not, a loud message has been sent from the four HSB members that they believe that all students at Hartland Consolidated Schools are racist and are in need of training. Does that sit well coming from our elected officials? If there are issues regarding bullying, discrimination or wrong doings, they should be handled on a one to one basis in-house and not monitored by a federal agency, especially one that calls parents “domestic terrorists”!
According to Michigan’s laws on recalling, only two (President Meghan Glabach and Vice President Kristin Coleman) of the four school board trustees, qualify. As HV seeks to investigate all the requirements needed, it is important to gauge interest. If you are willing to help with a potential community-wide recall effort of these two trustees, please fill out the form below and note in the comment section your intentions.
